[ frequently asked questions ] |
|
| Where do you get your models from? | In the beginning all models came from my circle of friends. Sometimes I meet an interesting person on the street and ask him or her if they are interested in modeling for me. Of course I am also pleased to receive online applications from interested models. In this case please send me an e-mail with a few attached images of you in the JPG format if possible. Usually, I meet the models in the run-up to a shooting so that we can get to know each other. |
| Do you pay your models? | The models get the best photographs as prints and a CD/DVD containing the digitized images in exchange for the work. Of course they can use this material for private purposes, personal websites or self-promotion. |
| Do models pay you? | I only receive payments from models for bookings which shall be done in line with the client's own ideas and on their requirements. This work includes photography for portfolios or sedcards, for example. |
| What is your inspiration? | My greatest inspiration is the music, in particular jazz, fusion and funk. When I'm listening to music, I imagine people in different situations and try to capture these images later on film. A pinch of irony can be seen in many of my photographs. If some of my pictures raise a smile on the face of the observer, I absolutely regard this as a compliment. |
| How did you get started doing photography? | I got my first SLR camera when I was approximately 16 years old and dealt intensively with the photography since then. I discovered my interest for people very quickly and started to take pictures of my friends. |
| In which regions do you take bookings? | I work in the region of Brunswick and Hanover in Germany. In the field of concert photography I accept commissions all over Germany. |
I am a prospective art photographer. Can you give me an advice? |
You can get inspiration from many photographers; however, the main challenge is to develop your own style instead of copying the work of others. In my opinion it is important to remain true to yourself and to photograph what you think is an interesting theme, be it architecture, landscapes or people. |
| What equipment do you use? | I shoot with film and digital Nikon SLR cameras and lenses between 14mm and 300mm. I usually use slide material for my analog photography. Most of my photographs result on location under natural lighting conditions. |
| How do you get this special colors in your photographs? | For my analogue work I use the Cross-Processing technique. For my digital work I have build this effect completely in Adobe Photoshop. All plug-ins that I tried did not the job that I expected. |
